Tesco food festival

Earlier today I attended the press launch of the 2015 TESCO Food Festival at Custom House Square and had a super time.

It was superb in that we (invited guests) had clear access to all the stalls. Very important as you can actually manoeuvre properly without the heat and cramped conditions when it's open to the public!!!

After speeches by dignitaries and all that are important the Belfast Gospel Choir sang and officially kicked off proceedings. It's great to see TESCO grow from its roots in May 1997, when it started in NI spending £50 million, to now spending over £550 million, employing over 8000 local people and selling 1200 local lines.

It's also good to see that they listen to their customers and provide more in terms of education (there were lots of school groups in today) and a reduction in total number of lines (which I suggested earlier).

There were a number of established big boys on display (eg Tayto, Cookstown, Dale Farm,Irwins,Moy Park & Punjana to name a few) as well as new and upcoming players (Mash Direct, Just Live A Little, Mallon Foods, Big Pot Co and many more). Please see pictures below.

Just a couple of newbies on the horizon to watch out for are the pork goujons from Connolly's and chocolate brownie pizza from Goodfellas which really tasted good.

So get down to Custom House Square today (til 8pm as its Culture Night also), Saturday and Sunday.
