Musgrave Christmas Market

My two daughters and I attended this exclusive VIP event at Musgrave Market Place. It was the launch of the Christmas Market with a chance to meet suppliers, taste their products, shop and really get into the Christmas Spirit, as well as to taste some excellent dishes cooked up by chef Steven Jeffers of Forestside Cookery School.

I don't know who was more excited-my two girls or myself!! Just the decorations alone did it for me and my girls were amazed with all the Santas and trees!! On arrival we met the staff and had a glass of bubbly. Then it was on to meet suppliers and their wares-all of which can be bought from Musgrave Market Place, if in the Trade.

Above is Santa nestled amongst some trees and below him is a selection of Tipperary cheese from Cooleeney Farm, which were exceptional. Then we tried the ham and sausages from Robinsons in Ballyclare. My daughters really loved these and had quite a few!! McCaughey Foods had a superb range of chicken, turkey and ham (with stuffing) and skewers and these were very succulent and full of flavour and Irish.

Above clockwise from top left was a selection of mini tarts with sweet and savoury fillings and flavoured syrups, then a superb selection of breads all ready to bake with oils and pate, next two were desserts and Christmas pudding roll. Both of these were firm favourites with my girls especially. Lastly was a range of preserves and condiments.

We had a good look around the rest of the store and saw some brilliant products and got lots of ideas and inspiration. Then we were treated to live cookery demos by chef Jeffers in the demo kitchen.

We saw him put together sticky toffee pudding with Christmas pudding ice cream. Again this went down very well with my girls and I. All the products and ingredients Steven used are available in Musgrave.

He then put together some great party food mini bites. These being goats cheese fritters in Panko bread crumbs, salmon and beetroot with horseradish cream on pastry slices, popcorn prawns, breaded prawns and sausage rolls. By now the sugar had peaked in my girls and it was time to take them home!!

I would certainly come and do some Christmas shopping here soon and would definitely be comfortable in serving the foods I tasted. I would like to thank Musgrave Market Place for their very kind hospitality.
