"Applegreen opens Templepatrick Motorway Services Area
on M2 outbound and creates 75 jobs
~ First of four planned super service stations in Northern Ireland which will create 250 permanent jobs ~
Wednesday 8 April, 2015: Applegreen, Ireland’s largest motorway service area operator, has today launched the first of its four planned Motorway Service Areas in Northern Ireland at Templepatrick on the M2 Outbound between junctions 4 and 5. When the four planned Motorway Service areas are completed, a total investment of £30 million will have been made by Applegreen in Northern Ireland, which will result in the creation of 250 permanent jobs. 75 jobs have been created at the Templepatrick Motorway Services Area.
The Templepatrick Motorway Services Area will be accessible by an average of 24,000 thousand motorists per day. The traveling public on the M2 can now for the first time avail of the full range of popular services Applegreen already offers from over 150 sites across its service station network in Ireland, the UK and the US. The privately funded investment is the ninth Motorway Service Area in the Applegreen network.
In addition to a full convenience store, car and HGV fuelling pumps, and extensive parking a cross the 4.8 acre site, the Applegreen M2 MSA will include a compelling food offer for customers that includes UK bakery Greggs (to open shortly), a Burger King restaurant and drive thru, Subway, Chopstix, Lavazza CafĂ© in addition to Applegreen’s own brand, The Bakewell. The site, which will have an outdoor children’s play areas will be open on a 24/7 basis.
The Applegreen brand is constantly evolving and has brought many new initiatives to the forecourt market in recent years. It pioneered the first Motorway Service Areas in Ireland, and launched the forecourt industry’s first loyalty card scheme.
